Hi Restrangled. I don't know what to tell you. My grandmother is a pack rat. She has a small house and has always had at least one dog. There is barely a pathway to walk through she has so much junk!!! She cannot walk in to a room without having to twist your body to conform to the small spaces to walk. She has even injured herself falling over it. Before my grandpa died, she had to move a bunch of stuff so they could walk down a four foot long hallway to get to him. But this is her. When she had a bird, a pigeon she nursed back to health, it flew all over the place and pooped on everything. Including our hair. GROSS GROSS GROSS Her home is her business. Most family will not visit her because of it. There is seating, but always covered with junk, so it is hard to visit her with 2 or more people at a time. Maybe your friend lets her bird out to fly freely when she is at home. Her home is her haven, even if you are repulsed. My grandma loves her animals. She will alter her life to care for them. Left my sisters wedding reception early to get home to take care of the dogs. But I loved going there as a child. And she has a way with animals. Your neighbor must too if they are all healthy. I understand your recoiling at her home. If I had never seen my grandma's growing up, I couldn't believe people live like that. To each his own. All I know is my parents dread the day they will have to clean it up when she is gone. But she is happy. Her animals are her social life. Hope this helps. Kitten Whiskers

What would you do? everyones input please!
by restrangled ini have a great neighbor who has always looked out for us and sent over very expensive pet food at no cost because she is in the business.. she has been a great neighbor all around for many years.
her daughter and my son are very good friends.. just this week she asked my son to take care of her pets.
he went surfing today and asked me to cover.. when i went over i was so alarmed, and came back so depressed i do not know what to do.. it is an 800 square foot house with 2 dogs, must be 8 fish tanks full of turtles, a cat,and a parrot sitting in a dusty cage in the dark.

No dating outside of religion?
by TillMorning inhey this is my first post and since the search option is down i figured i'd risk getting flamed.. anyway, i have a problem.
this belief of not dating anyone who isnt a witness...is there anyway around it?
anyway short of converting them?

Have you seen the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"? Watch it, and replace the pride/importance of being greek that the father feels with being a jw and you will have a pretty good idea of the trials. One exception I can think of, in the movie they commit fornication. As a jw, she would be disfellowshipped. Also they are dating without a chaperone. She will be marked as bad association because she is spiritually weak. Sorry. In the movie the boyfriend says "We're not different species", but that is about how bad it is viewed. If you watch it, you'll see the grief she has to go through.

Good Morning Pippy! Told you I'd be back in the morning! Got my cup of coffee, and read your post. I completely understand what you said about being a puppet and not feeling like an adult. I never understood why I felt the way I did. I just told my husband the other day, I finally feel like I'm all grown up now. It's great not feel the guilt of displeasing parents and living life for you and your family! Congratulations to us all!
Making our own decisions, and finally realising we don't have to live in fear is extremely liberating. I'm looking forward to 2 more birthday parties and thankgiving and xmas! This morning we're headed to church, where they DO cater to the children and we love it. So much better. Have a beautiful life and ENJOY it the way we were meant to! Hope to see you soon.

Why don't JW's change their failed methods of witnessing...
by zeroday ingoing out in field service monday thru friday 9 till noon, knocking on empty doors while most people are away at work.
knowing no one will be at home.
why is there not a massive effort for evening witnessing when you know most people will be home and able to be reached.

Here's my 2 cents on that.
They're already strapped as far as they can go. Most of those out during the day are older housewives, elderly, fresh out of high school, or Young mothers. They have to cook when they get home, wash clothing, kids homework, etc. etc. It is pushed in certain congregations. We used to go out as young pioneers sisters in the evening 6pm-8pm during summer. Even though it is still light out, it feels safer to work return visits during this time. That way, you know who is behind the door. (Of course my experience was before everyone had a cell phone handy to call for help).
Time wise, there are only three nights to spend at home with your family. There is great demand on your time. Many young pioneers also work nights so that they can have the time to pioneer during normal hours when others are out. Some phone witness at night. I have seen so called 24hour witnessing done. That is where groups from several kingdom halls get together and work all night businesses to contact the employees and truckers and such that keep unusual hours and would be sleeping during the day.
I can't think about this anymore. Too depressing. I'm going to bed.

Lv4fer- ((((hugs)))) I live knowing one day I will be there too. You're a good mama. I can tell. She was crying when she left, not squeeling the car tires to leave faster!
Get in that kitchen and bake her favorite treat! Maybe you can get to be her first "delivery" at her new place! Won't she be surprised! Just a thought. I tried to do that a few special people. It's so hard to move away and only get bills and flyers in the mail.
Mouthy- I am so sorry. We are so glad you are here for us and we for you.

They probably need something fresh to gossip about for service tomorrow. Those 8-10 hour days can go by so much faster with a little "news" to share with the group.
Hope they leave you alone. I know what it's like to have your stomach churn when they show up. Especially when you can't ignore the knock because your kids are outside playing......they KNOW you are home

Chili Cookoff
by truth.ceeker inchili cook off.
recently i was honored to be selected as an outstanding famous celebrity in my community to be a judge at a chili cook-off because no one else wanted to do it.
also the original person called in sick at the last moment and i happened to be standing there at the judge's table asking directions to the beer wagon when the call came.

Too hilarious! I can't wait for my hubby to read this. In 10 years of marriage I've only seen him eat 1 thing that was too hot for him to handle! He would have loved to been in your shoes!
Congratulations on your free beer! Too bad the don't make tongue bandaids!
Cheers,

by Morocco inthis may not be as amusing to the members here as it is to me, but i would like to say that irony is my favorite thing.
i was doing some searches in the watchtower library cd 05 and it was crunching the numbers on the loads of bull crap it found.
all was going well until i decided to do a search for "witchcraft"... when the program crashed, gave me fatal error, and shut down.
